It was announced today that Salt Lake City native and Brighton High School grad Erin Morley has won one of this year's Richard Tucker Music Foundation Career Grants.
These $10,000 awards are given each year by the Foundation, named after America's greatest tenor, to America's best young opera singers after two days of by-invitation-only auditions in New York City. Her father sings in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and her mother is the concertmaster of the Salt Lake Symphony, and is also a very accomplished pianist.
She's been a member of the Metropolitan Opera's young artist program for the last three years, and will be starring in their upcoming production of "Dialogues of the Carmelites," which opens on May 4. She holds degrees from The Juilliard School and the Eastman School of Music.
