A Kaysville man was in the Davis County jail Tuesday after allegedly abducting his girlfriend and then fighting with police officers responding to a 911 call.

According to jail documents, the 54-year-old man was booked Sunday on suspicion of domestic-violence related aggravated kidnapping, assault, damaging a communications device, interfering with a police officer and disorderly conduct. He was being held on $200,000 bond.

Police said the woman alleged her boyfriend had thrown her to the ground and then destroyed her cell phone when she initially tried to call 911. She was eventually able to flee their Kaysville home and ran into a nearby church parking lot Sunday afternoon, where she prevailed upon a passerby to call police.

Police reported they had to use pepper spray on the suspect before physically restraining him.
