Re "Obama lambasts Senate gun vote as 'shameful day'" (Tribune, April 18):

Despicable, absolutely despicable.

How can our two senators meet and console the folks from Newtown, Conn., who lost loved ones, so many children, and then turn right around and vote no on expanding background checks for gun buyers? Ninety percent of the American people wanted them to vote yes.

Do our senators need the National Rifle Association's money that bad? Shame on them.

Next time, please do the right thing.
