The husband of the co-founder of Provo-based skin care company Nu Skin was arrested and booked into jail this week on suspicion of rape and other sex-related crimes.

Records from the Utah County jail show that the Utah County Sheriff's Office arrested Springville resident Robert Clark McKell, 52, on suspicion of two counts of object rape, forcible sodomy and four counts of sexual battery. He was booked into jail on Wednesday and was released Thursday on a $50,000 bond.

Probable cause statements from the Utah County Attorney's Office that may shed more light on the alleged acts were not available Friday evening. McKell had not been charged in court.

A phone number listed under McKell's name was disconnected.

McKell is married to NuSkin co-founder Nedra Roney McKell. In 1996, Roney McKell, who was then known as Nedra Roney Tischner, was charged with three third-degree felony counts of prescription fraud and another count of insurance fraud. She eventually entered a plea in abeyence to the charges and received three years of probation. Prosecutors agreed to dismiss the charges after a three-year probation period.

Roney McKell founded Nu Skin with her brother, Blake Roney. Since 1998, Roney McKell no longer worked with the company but remained a major stakeholder.
