There are some big shoes to fill for Camie Oakey.

Springville High School announced the hiring of Oakey as its girls' basketball coach Tuesday afternoon. Oakey replaces Nancy Warner, who took the same job at Lone Peak.

Oakey heads to Springville after two seasons as the Mountain View girls' coach. She served as an assistant coach at Mountain View from 2008 to 2011.

Oakey, who played high school basketball in Texas, played four years at the University of Utah, including in the Elite Eight in 2006, according to a release from the Nebo School District.

"I am honored and excited to be the next coach at SHS," Oakey said in the release. "This is an exciting opportunity for me and my family. It is my hope that I can build on the rich tradition that has defined Springville basketball over the past six years."

Springville completed a perfect 25-0 season and captured the Class 4A state title this past season. It was Springville's third state title in four years, all under Warner.

"We are excited to be able to hire a coach of high character and who will be a great role model for our student athletes," Springville principal Mike Brown said in the release. "Mrs. Oakey has had success at all levels of basketball and will continue to build on the great tradition of excellence we have at Springville High School."
