They hit. They fielded. They stole bases. They picked off runners. Oh, and they hit some more.
"I was very pleased with our pitching performance in the circle," Haymone said. "We played good, solid defense. The bats were alive today."
The Wolverines smacked 12 hits and took advantage of four errors to open up an eight-run lead after two innings.
"These kids are taught that if someone makes an error, that gives us another at bat," Haymone said. "Especially if it's the third out. We try to take advantage of that and produce offense because of the error."
Hunter easily took advantage. Caitlin Pehrson had three doubles, Bailey Vigil clobbered a two-run homer and East walked in two Hunter runs to keep the scoreboard operator busy.
"We all did our part today," Vigil said. "We hit very well. Our defense was strong. We played really well."
