Detroit • The Tigers have put left-handed reliever Phil Coke on the 15-day disabled list and have recalled right-hander Jose Ortega from Triple-A Toledo.

Detroit announced the moves Wednesday. The Tigers also reinstated outfielder Avisail Garcia from the 15-day disabled list and optioned him to Toledo.

Coke has been bothered by a left groin strain, and he goes on the DL retroactive to April 26. He is 0-3 with an 8.31 ERA for the Tigers this season with 10 strikeouts in 8 2-3 innings.

Detroit still has left-handers Drew Smyly and Darin Downs in the bullpen.

Garcia has missed time because of a bruised right heel.
