Davis County sheriff's deputies chased down and arrested a man who crashed his car and then fled on foot through a West Point neighborhood Wednesday hiding in four homes until off-duty firefighters cornered him.
Sheriff's Sgt. Susan Poulsen said the 26-year-old man, who has a history of drug offenses, was nabbed just before noon. He had attempted to speed away from a deputy attempting to make a traffic stop near 1600 West and 300 North before crashing about two blocks away.
The man then abandoned the car and fled on foot and hid in the basement of a nearby house, only to get chased out by the homeowner. He then hid in a second home a few doors away while deputies searched the area, Poulsen said.
