Murray police confirmed Thursday they are investigating, but have not made a formal arrest in an alleged sexual assault at Intermountain Medical Center.

Police spokesman Kenny Bass said the Sunday incident allegedly involved "inappropriate touching" of a woman while she was in the hospital. He said the suspect is a male employee at the hospital, but he would not further identify the man's work assignment.

Bass, citing the on-going nature of the investigation, declined to provide further details, including whether an arrest or charges were expected soon.

IMC spokesman Jess Gomez would not discuss the employee or his status, saying only that the hospital is fully cooperating with police in their investigation.

"Whenever serious allegations are made, we take them very seriously and immediately involve local law enforcement officials and conduct a thorough investigation," Gomez said, stressing that patient welfare and safety is IMC's primary concern.
