A woman walked away uninjured after her car crashed into a gas pump in West Jordan and erupted into flames.
About 5:50 a.m., the woman was driving east on 7800 South when her grey Mazda was struck by a westbound Ford Excursion turning south at 4000 West, said West Jordan police Lt. Dean Waters. The Mazda veered into a Maverick gas station on the corner and crashed into a sign, a tree and then a pump, knocking it over and igniting a fire.
"It was a fairly good-sized fire. There were 10- to 12-foot flames going up," Waters said. "Luckily [the 24-year-old woman] was not hurt. She was able to exit the car and get away from the fire."
