For the first time in years, "So You Think You Can Dance" didn't bring auditions to Salt Lake City this season. But the show had barely begun its new season on Tuesday night before the first Utah dancer made an impression.

Malece Miller, 19, got a nice chunk of screen time for her story (how her parents' divorce affected her), and she was a big hit with the judges, who sent her quickly on to the next round of auditions.

Whether she makes it any further toward becoming a finalist remains to be seen.

If there's any cause for concern, let's hope Mom doesn't continue to put herself front-and-center in this story.
