Things get serious on the season finale of Modern Family (8 p.m., ABC/Ch. 4) when Phil's mother dies. The family travels to Florida for the funeral.Viewers never got to meet Phil's mom, although we've seen his dad multiple times. And Fred Willard returns tonight in that role.This is one of TV's best comedies, and - not surprisingly - there are lots of laughs as well. Claire helps Phil with Gracie's last wish for Frank, and the kids reflect on the gifts grandma left for them.
