Re "Coach Mike debacle a 'teaching moment'" (Tribune, June 9):

The fiasco by the Salt Lake City Council and the mayor regarding not renewing the management bid by Coach Mike's Tennis Academy reminds me of the of the persons in the U.S. Forest Service who were responsible for getting rid of "Smokey the Bear" a number of years ago.

A very limited thought process. A lack of understanding of what Coach Mike or Smokey mean to the public. A total lack of public input. And the government's unworkable one-size-fits-all method.

In the end, these governmental officials will not listen to any of us; their decision has been made. We need to remember that when they next want our votes.
