"President Albrecht, tear down this old building!"

You might have said that if you were passing the old Harris Center the past few weeks, ready for construction on the $9.5 million Wayne Estes Center to begin.

Utah State took the first step toward building the new basketball and volleyball facility by getting rid of what's standing there now. On Monday, the demolition began, and the athletics department was all over it.

The Aggies anticipate the center opening in spring or early summer of 2014. The school has received some generous gifts for the project, including a $5.25 million from Jim and Carol Laub, and a $1.3 million donation from Blake Kirby.
