Happy birthday! • Celebrate the city's 17th birthday at Taylorsville Dayzz today, Friday and Saturday at Valley Regional Park, 5100 S. 2700 West. The event includes hot-air balloon rides, a car show, carnival rides, fireworks and two headliners: ABBA tribute band Abbacadabra and Let's Hang On!, which will do a Frankie Valli/"Jersey Boys" tribute. West Valley City

The kids have grown up • Mama's Wranglers, formerly known as the Kid Fiddlers, will perform from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Live After Five event at Fairbourne Station Plaza, 2810 W. 3800 South (directly west of City Hall). The concert is free.

Science fun • Kids in kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to learn about fossils from 3 to 4 p.m. today at Hunter Library, 4740 W. 4100 South.
