Kaysville police had a mystery on their hands Monday morning after a car crashed through a fence and landscaping before striking a business.

Police Capt. Brent Ward told the Standard-Examiner that the incident occurred about 4 a.m. at 100 S. Main Street. The car, found on its hood, was traced through its license plate to an 18-year-old man registered as the vehicle's owner.

However, the man — who appeared to be intoxicated — insisted he had not been driving. The matter remained under investigation, police said.

Car parts and debris from the fence and landscaping were scattered throughout the accident scene.
