A teen was stabbed and two other people were nearly run over Thursday in a grocery store parking lot in Millcreek Township.

The 17-year-old victim and two acquaintances, 17 and 31, were buying fireworks about 7:30 p.m. in a tent at the parking lot of Smith's at 845 E. 4500 South when three other males approached them, said Unified Police Department Lt. Justin Hoyal.

They fought in the fireworks tent, and the three males left. The victim chased after them and returned with a stab wound to his upper body, Hoyal said. The person who stabbed him was described as a Latino male in his late teens with a white tank top, plaid shorts, a shaved head and tattoos on his back.

The other two assailants got into a black Dodge Durango, and the driver tried to run over the victim's two acquaintances in the parking lot, Hoyal said. The driver was described as a Latino male in his late teens with an Afro-style haircut, Hoyal said. The third male in the group was described as a Latino male in his late teens, with long shaggy hair, no shirt and no tattoos.

The victim's acquaintances were not injured, Hoyal said.

Investigators believe the attack was gang-related, Hoyal said.
