An 11-year-old Denver girl and her grandmother died Sunday in a crash near Green River, Utah.

The girl, Daisy Figueroa, died at the scene and her 64-year-old grandmother Alicia Figueroa died Sunday night at St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo., according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

At 12:42 p.m. Sunday, a 2004 Nissan Pathfinder with eight people aboard was traveling east on Interstate 70, about 2 miles west of Green River. The driver went off the left side of the road, steered back onto the highway but over corrected and lost control of the Pathfinder, according to UHP.

The Pathfinder rolled off the interstate, ejecting the two victims.

Neither of them was wearing a seat belt, but everyone else was and suffered little to no injuries, according to UHP.

UHP is still investigating why the Pathfinder drifted.
