A 53-year-old man drowned Saturday at the Great Salt Lake despite clear skies and calm waters.
The man had rented a kayak from a marina on Antelope Island and had made it about half a mile out when a bicyclist saw that he was out of the kayak and in the water about 100 yards from the causeway, said Davis County Sheriff's Sgt. Jason Boydston. About 3:30 p.m., the bicyclist hopped into a boat and brought the man back to shore.
Someone on shore performed CPR and called 911, but no one could resuscitate the man.
