• Metal bands Pop Evil and Drowning Pool co-headline at In the Venue, 219 S. 600 West, Salt Lake City. Opening act: Gemini Syndrome. Show starts at 6. Tickets are $22, at Smith's Tix.

• Reggae/funk band 311 performs at Usana Amphitheatre, 5150 S. 6055 West, West Valley City. Opening acts: Cypress Hill, G. Love & Special Sauce. Show starts at 6:30. Tickets, from $34 to $59, available at Smith's Tix.

• Dixie Chick Natalie Maines flies solo at the Snow Park Outdoor Amphitheatre, 2250 Deer Valley Dr., Park City. Opening act: Mary Beth Maziarz. Show starts at 7. Tickets are $40, at the Eccles Center website.

• Country legend Merle Haggard performs at Red Butte Garden, 300 Wakara Way, University of Utah campus, Salt Lake City. Opening act: Paul Thorn. Show starts at 7:30. Tickets are $50, at the Red Butte website.

• Indie-rock band Frightened Rabbit performs at The Depot, 400 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City. Show starts at 8. Tickets are $20, at Smith's Tix.
