Provo • Two days after missing out on landing the state of Utah's top inside player, Roy High's Brekkott Chapman, BYU basketball coach Dave Rose received a commitment on Wednesday from another highly regarded big man.

American Fork's Ryan Andrus, a 6-foot-8, 200-pound rising senior, announced via Twitter that he will be signing in November with BYU.

"Just got off the phone with Coach Rose. Committed to play basketball for BYU. Couldn't be happier," Andrus wrote.

Andrus averaged 19.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last season for the Cavemen. He also made 19 3-pointers. He scored a season-high 38 points in a game against Syracuse.

He also had offers from Utah, Utah State and Boise State.

Andrus is expected to play one year in Provo before going on an LDS Church mission. Lone Peak's Eric Mika, who signed with BYU last November and is expected to be a major contributor to the 2013-14 team, is also expected to leave after one year.

BYU also has commitments from three other prep seniors: Lone Peak's TJ Haws, Orem's Dalton Nixon and Jake Toolson, a 6-5 shooting guard from Gilbert, Ariz. Haws, Nixon and Toolson are expected to go on church missions before enrolling.
