Murray police on Wednesday were searching for a gunman who burst into an apartment, threatened and robbed residents and then shot and wounded a man who chased him from the scene.

Public safety dispatchers confirmed a 911 call reporting the break-in and shooting came from the Miller Estates Apartments at 4920 S. Lake Pines Drive (850 East) at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday.

The victims told officers that the gunman — described as a black man about 40-45 years old, wearing a dark-colored beanie cap, dark pants and a black jacket with a white stripe — forced his way into the residence, ordered them onto the floor and robbed them of cash and belongings.

Murray police spokesman Kenny Bass said the suspect fled on foot. When one of the occupants of the apartment walked out the door the suspect turned, fired a shot and hit the man. He was treated at the hospital for the calf wound and released.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Murray Police Department at 801-840-4000.
