He makes some small talk, then he pulls a knife.
That is the modus operandi of the man that robbed four Salt Lake City businesses and one in Millcreek from March to July, and police want the public's help capturing him.
He hit Seagull Book on 1140 E. Brickyard Road on March 18 and Heritage Day Cleaning at 909 E. 2700 South on March 29. On April 16, he robbed Express Cleaners at 2945 E. 3300 South, then went down the street on May 29 and robbed Ma and Paws at 1227 E. 3300 South — the Millcreek business, according to a news release.
His latest robbery was July 22 at Game Stop on 2263 S. Highland Drive, the release adds.
The suspect, a man who appears to be in his 20s with a heavy build and short brown hair, left each robbery on foot. He wore a purple baseball cap decorated with the letters "TCU" and carried a satchel-type bag slung from his shoulders in most of the robberies, according to the release.
Salt Lake City police could not immediately confirm if the letters stand for Texas Christian University.
If anyone knows his whereabouts, he or she can call the Salt Lake City police at 801-799-3000 or the Unified Police Department at 801-743-7000. People can also tip the police anonymously by texting TIPSLCPD plus the information to CRIMES (274637), with the reference "serial robber."
