Leonard's novels included "Get Shorty," "Hombre" and "Out of Sight" (all of which became movies), and other works inspired the movies "3:10 to Yuma" and "Jackie Brown," and the TV series "Justified." • Comedian/actor Dick Van Dyke, 87, was rescued from a burning car in southern California on Monday. He was uninjured. [Variety]

• Lee Thompson Young, who starred on the Disney Channel's "The Famous Jett Jackson" as a kid and recently had a recurring role on TNT's "Rizzoli & Isles," was found dead in his L.A. home. He was 29. [Entertainment Weekly]
