Here's what's happening in pop culture:

• The Weinstein Company is mounting an "Uncover the Mystery but Don't Spoil the Secrets" marketing campaign for its upcoming documentary "Salinger," about the reclusive writer J.D. Salinger – including having press and insiders sign nondisclosure agreements before seeing it. [Variety]

• Actor and screenwriter Wentworth Miller came out as gay, in a letter turning down an invitation to a film festival in Russia because of that country's anti-gay legislation. [Entertainment Weekly]

• The hottest movie-related toy this season? The fart blaster from "Despicable Me 2." [The Hollywood Reporter]
