Provo • Alexa Gray smashed a team-high 17 kills to lead the BYU women's volleyball team to a 25-16, 25-18, 25-20 victory over UC Irvine aat Smith Fieldhouse on Thursday night.
Tambre Haddock tallied 11 kills and 12 digs, and Camry Godfrey had 40 assists for the Cougars (6-3), who outhit UC Irvine (5-2) .227 to .127.
"A win is a win and we're excited about that," BYU coach Shawn Olmstead said. "I thought UC Irvine did a nice job of adjusting in sets one and two when we had nice leads. Our ball control wasn't where it should have been and we didn't get our middles as involved as I would have liked to. But overall, I thought we played a good match."
