A teenage boy was hit by a car in Sandy early Tuesday morning after he darted into the street.
Sandy Lt. Craig Watson said a northbound vehicle hit the 17-year-old boy at 6:39 a.m. near the intersection of 10600 South and 700 East. The boy lost some teeth and suffered head injuries, Watson said, and was transported to Intermountain Medical Center in stable condition. Authorities said they expect the boy to recover.
According to Watson, the boy had been at a nearby 7-Eleven immediately before the accident. After buying a few things, he ran into the street at a poorly-lit spot about 100 feet from a crosswalk. Watson also said the boy was wearing dark clothing and the sun hadn't yet come up. Watson did not know what the boy was doing in the area or what kind of vehicle hit him.
