A bicyclist hit by a car near Salt Lake City's Liberty Park over the weekend remained in critical condition in the hospital on Monday.

However, Salt Lake City police Det. Rick Wall said he understood the man, whose identity was not released, had improved and was expected to survive.

The 4:41 p.m. Saturday accident at 700 E. 900 South remained under investigation, but police said witnesses indicated the unhelmeted bicyclist ran a red light.
