The suspected green-masked bank robber turned himself into the police Saturday evening.
The man, wearing a green Halloween mask and a dark hoodie, brandished a handgun in a Key Bank at 1939 W. 4700 South just before noon Friday, according to Unified Police. He yelled that it was a robbery, handed the tellers a plastic bag and told them to put money in it, according to police. After the tellers gave the man some cash, he left the bank and was seen leaving in a white car, possibly a Honda or Toyota.
Detectives got a tip and were able to identify the suspect after releasing surveillance images of the robbery, along with details of the crime.
Though detectives could not find him, they were able to make contact with him over the phone. He agreed to turn himself in and surrendered to detectives at the Unified Police Department, according to a news release.
The man was then interviewed and booked into the Salt Lake County jail on suspicion of robbery, the release adds.
