Hoffman, meanwhile, said he is "healed up, 100 percent, and ready to go" after missing the opener at Virginia with a hamstring injury and the MTSU game for disciplinary reasons.
"This is as healthy as I've been since I first tweaked my hammy in fall camp," Hoffman said.
Mendenhall said after the MTSU game that Hoffman's suspension would last just one game if the star met certain "standards" agreed upon by the coach and player. Hoffman said Monday he's OK with that.
"Yeah, I feel like we came to a mutual agreement and that the tasks that I have to do … I will be able to do them," Hoffman said.
Asked if the one-game suspension was fair, Hoffman nodded.
"Yeah, I made a mistake and I paid for it," he said. "So, you just gotta keep going."
Hurst said kick returner Adam Hine began the first stages of protocol on Monday for his concussion and has improved considerably since Friday. Offensive lineman De'Ondre Wesley also suffered a concussion and has started protocol. Neither seems likely for Friday.
Linebacker Tyler Beck (hamstring) did not practice Monday but is improving, Hurst said. Mendenhall said he expects Beck to be able to play, but has moved Manoa Pikula back to the buck linebacker spot as a contingency plan if Beck can't go.
Of the two starting offensive linemen who didn't play against MTSU, Ryker Mathews and Brock Stringham, Mathews practiced on Monday and should be able to play. Stringham, who has a shoulder strain, did not practice but is going to try to practice on Tuesday.
