AMC's lawyers tell Brewvies not to show 'Walking Dead'

So does AMC expect us to watch TV in our homes? How rude!

Local fans of AMC's zombie drama "The Walking Dead" who like the communal experience discovered they had to fend for themselves, as Salt Lake City's Brewvies Cinema Pub did not host their traditional free screening of Sunday's fourth-season premiere.

According to Brewvies' Facebook page, the theater/bar received a cease-and-desist letter from the TV channel, telling them to stop promoting its free showings of "The Walking Dead."

"We have received instruction from the lawyers at AMC networks to remove all advertising and cease to air episodes of 'The Walking Dead' because of copyright infringement," Brewvies' managers wrote on Facebook. "We at Brewvies have no intention to take advantage of the hard work of the talented people who crafted the show and will indeed comply."

Brewvies and our friends at Salt Lake City Weekly have been showing "The Walking Dead" on Sunday nights since the series debuted — alternating with Sunday screenings of AMC shows as "Mad Men" and "Breaking Bad." Brewvies also has Tuesday-night showings of FX's "Sons of Anarchy" and this year's new entry, ABC's "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."
