KUED's nationwide search for a new general manager landed on a man who's career has taken him nationwide.Well, not quite. But James Morgese, who takes over at Channel 7 on Dec. 1, has been at a number of stations in a number of states in the past 30 years - most recently in Bowling Green, Ky., where he was the general manger of both the public television and public radio stations.He's also worked at PBS stations in Colorado, Idaho and Florida and NBC affiliates in Colorado and New York."James brings a wealth of public television experience to the position and KUED's viewers will be the beneficiaries," says Fred Esplin, director of institutional development at the University of Utah. "The university is delighted that he has accepted the position and has full confidence in his ability to build on the great tradition of service for which KUED is known."His varied career includes a stint as president of Instinct Media Solutions, which specializes in new media content for non-profit organizations and small businesses; and he was the executive director of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra in Punta Gorda, Fla.He was on the board of directors of America's Public Television Stations (APTS) from 1997- 2003, representing the industry to the Federal Communications Commission and to Congress. And he has served on the board of directors of the Pacific Mountain Network and the National Educational Television Association.Morgese replaces Michael Dunn, who stepped down as KUED's GM in June.
