A Davis High School teacher has been arrested and is accused of having sex with a student.

Brianne L. Altice, 34, was booked into the Davis County Jail late Monday on suspicion of two counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor. She was released Tuesday morning on $10,000 bail. Formal charges have not been filed.

The boy told the police about the sex, which allegedly occurred between the spring and August of 2012 when he was about 15 years old, said Kaysville Police Lt. Paul Thompson. A jail document says the alleged victim is now 17.

The teen said that he and Altice had sex about seven times — five times at her South Weber home and twice somewhere in Kaysville, according to the jail document. He could describe tattoos on her body and the layout of her house, the document adds.

Police then searched Altice's home in South Weber.

"With the assistance of the Davis County Sheriff's Office Ms. Altice was interviewed and evidence from the residence corroborated the victim's statement," according to a Kaysville Police Department news release. The jail document adds that investigators photographed Altice's tattoos and her home and got a search warrant for her phone data.

After hearing her Miranda rights, Altice admitted to having sex with the teen on two occasions, once at her home and once at a Kaysville park, the jail document states.

Altice is on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation, said district spokesman Christopher Williams, who learned of the allegation Monday afternoon.

"They are held to a higher standard. They know that, and the law treats them at that higher standard as well," Williams said.

The district hired her in October 2004 to work as a prep-time specialist at Wasatch Elementary School. In February 2005, she moved to teaching English at Sunset Junior High School, then began teaching English at Davis High School in August 2012.

The alleged sex did not happen on school property, Thompson said.
