Intermittent valley rain and mountain snow will be the weather pattern for Utah heading toward the weekend.
The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for the western two-thirds of the state stretching into early next week. The seven-day-long advisory, which kicked in Wednesday, called for colder air to settle in over the region, dropping overnight lows to just above freezing in valley locales and below freezing along the benches and in the mountains.
The Salt Lake and Tooele valleys looked for highs in the mid- to upper-50s on Thursday, up a couple degrees from Wednesday's forecast. Overnight lows were to dip into the mid- to upper-30s and rain and snow, mixed in evening hours, were expected.
Southern Utahns also looked for precipitation as high temperatures ranged into the upper-50s to low-60s and overnight lows settled to just a few degrees above freezing.
