Pound for pound, Salt Lake City is one of the most creative places in the country, according to a survey by the real-estate site Movoto.

Blogger Natalie Grigson tallied the top 10 most creative mid-sized cities, and put Salt Lake City in the top spot.

Grigson's criteria were the number of art-supply stores, musical instrument stores and teachers, galleries, art schools, bookstores, colleges and universities, and theaters and performing arts centers per capita. She ranked 100 cities in each category, from 1 to 100.

Salt Lake City ranked second in art supply stores, music stores, galleries, book stores and colleges/universities. It came in third in theaters and performing arts centers, and eighth in art schools. No other city ranked so highly in as many categories.
