Ryan Kelly, the Green River Fly Fisher, sent in this report.
This past week on the Green was definitely one of transition. To use a football term, we took what the defense gave us. We had some great streamer fishing, some great egg fishing and some good dry fly fishing. Each day, and each part of the river was different. Yesterday we had six rods strung up for whatever we encountered next. There were a couple of days were I fished with some jig fishermen with ultralight gear. This is the equivalent of low calorie streamer fishing. I'm no stranger to this type of fishing as I do it almost nightly with my kids on Flaming Gorge. We had success on marabou jigs in different colors, with pink being the most entertaining. The spawn has started a little bit, but it is mostly fall rainbows. I have only noticed a handful of spawning browns. With winter fast approaching and thoughts of "Utah Bucket List" powder days dancing in my head (I really like that show!), it's time to take advantage of a few more great days on the water. Check out this weeks pics. It's the only proof I have that we went fishing. There's even a fish that was a sucker for our imitation.
