I was absolutely dumbfounded to read in your editorial "Obama says sorry" (Our View, Nov. 10) that you think it folly for the president to actually ask "we the people" what we think. ("What if he had asked our permission?") That, sir, is the essence of our form of government!
You apparently disagree and are perfectly fine with a benevolent dictator telling us what is best for us. No, thank you! My wife and I have provided for our family's medical and other needs just fine.
We know what is best for our family, not the president, or the Tribune editorial board.
Finally, if people are to engage in a civil debate, honesty is paramount. I believe if you present the facts to the American people, their collective wisdom will make the wisest decision. Apparently, the Founding Fathers thought so.
