The Our View editorial published Nov. 10, ("Most cancelled health plans are no great loss") justifying President Obama's false promise to the American people, was misguided. To say that asking for forgiveness instead of seeking permission justifies the president's actions is wrong.
The president was using an age-old approach of the ends justifying the means. This method has been practiced by leaders who were despots or simply paternalistic idealists who felt they knew best. The presidents falls into the latter category.
The bottom line is that the president has lost the trust of many Americans. When a leader loses the trust of his constituents, his ability to govern is greatly diminished.
