A semi-trailer rig hauling fuel caught fire early Wednesday morning, forcing closure of Interstate 80 near Coalville.

Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson said the cause of the fire, reported about 6 a.m., was not immediately known.

No injuries were reported and no other vehicles were involved.

The fire closed eastbound and westbound lanes of the freeway near mile post 165, just north of Coalville, but by 7:30 a.m., westbound lanes had reopened.

North Summit firefighters doused the flames.

UHP hoped to fully restore traffic through the scene by mid-morning.
