A man decided Thursday he would rather brawl with courthouse deputies than take off his beanie, and that decision has now earned him an assault charge.
The 44-year-old man was in the U.S. District Courthouse in downtown Salt Lake City on Thursday morning when a U.S. marshal asked him to take off his beanie and sunglasses, according to court documents. The man left the courtroom, but then refused to give deputies his ID.
During the conversation, the man also took out a microphone that had been sewn into his jacket. When the deputies told the man that recording devices are not allowed in court, he began yelling at them, according to the documents. He then jumped up and tried to go back into the courtroom.
