"To me a conservative principle is that those who use the public resources should also be those who pay for them," said Rep. Jim Nielson, R-Bountiful ("State, local competition emerging to raise gasoline tax," Tribune, Nov. 17.)
If this is truly a principle of the conservative members of our state Legislature, shouldn't they be lining up to support the bill to limit the number of deductions a family can take on their state income tax?
Since large families use the most resources for education and pay the least, can we expect to see that legislation passed? It is a conservative principle.
