Six children were hurt when a school bus crashed into a sign and two trees in Cache County.

About 30 children from Canyon Elementary were on the bus as it traveled south on State Road 165 in Paradise. Near 9100 South, the driver was distracted by a student in the back and took her eyes off the road, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

About 3:47 p.m., the bus struck a sign. The driver could not regain control of the bus and it continued down a slight embankment, striking two trees before coming to a stop, according to the UHP.

Six children were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Cache Valley Daily. com reported at 4:55 p.m. that the accident scene had been cleaned up, the uninjured students released and SR 165 re-opened.
