"The country may think of you as a laughing stock and we'll know the truth and that's OK."

That's among the many sad quotes in the new trailer for "Mitt," a documentary Netflix will release Jan. 24. Greg Whiteley directed the film, which covers six years of exclusive access with the perennial campaigner.

The trailer promises viewers on either side of the aisle a new look at Romney, and it seems to deliver by showing one sad-sack moment after another: Romney describing himself as a flawed candidate; Romney sleeping on the floor of an airplane; Romney comparing himself to Dan Quayle; Romney realizing he lost and joking about not having the president's phone number.

As Emma Roller wrote for Slate, after watching the trailer, you can't help but feel a little sorry for the guy.
