Jim Green is a throwback to Brigham Young's mid-19th century Kingdom of Deseret ("Federal judge can't tell us what to do," Forum, Dec. 24). Back then, on Young's orders, federal judges were beaten and thrown out of the state for enforcing federal law.
But a funny thing happened. Utah's 1896 entry into the Union included writing into the state constitution acceptance of federal law as the supreme law of the land. Article 14 was in place already. He can read this in Article 1 Section 3. His Kingdom is no more.
