Draper police are awaiting results of an autopsy and forensic tests to determine if alcohol played a role in a fatal car crash in the early morning of New Year's Day.

Police said Thursday that Lawrence Darton, 54, of Sandy was found dead inside his vehicle just after 2 a.m. Wednesday after he colliding with a parked, vacant trailer near 11500 S. 700 East.

Darton was alone in the car, police said.
