Time to fill your ears with a bit of music from an anticipated movie from the 2014 Sundance Film Festival.
Norwegian singer-songwriter Sondre Lerche and collaborator Kato Ådland are responsible for the score to "The Sleepwalker," director Mona Fastvold's moody thriller about two sisters reunited under strange circumstances. (Lerche, by the way, is Fastvold's husband.)
The album will be released Jan. 14, six days before the movie's premiere Jan. 20 at Sundance. (This blog posted the movie's trailer on Dec. 24.)
But why wait? Stereogum has debuted the first single off of the album. The song, "Palindromes," is edgy and atmospheric — and whets our appetite for more, both in the music and in the movie.
Lerche isn't the only rocker scoring a Sundance movie. According to RTT News, Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard is writing the music for Lynn Shelton's "Laggies" (in the Premieres section), and Adam Horovitz (a k a Ad-Rock of The Beastie Boys) is behind the music for "No No: A Dockumentary" (in the U.S. Documentary competition).
