An Ogden man accused of kidnapping and sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy has been returned to Utah and made his initial appearance in court on Friday.
Ryan Mitchell Schaffer, 34, is charged in Ogden's 2nd District Court with aggravated kidnapping, a first-degree felony, and three counts of second-degree felony unlawful sexual activity with a minor. He is accused of kidnapping the victim from a train station and forced the victim to commit sexual acts with him over several days in July.
After a month of searching, police found and arrested Schaffer in California. He has been held at the Humboldt County jail until this week, when he was extradited to Utah and booked into the Weber County jail.
