Plans for tonight: Rap, metal or electro-pop

• Post-hardcore bands A Lot Like Birds and Sianvar co-headline the "Substance Sequence Tour," which lands at The Shred Shed, 60 E. Exchange Place (360 South), Salt Lake City. Opening acts: The Venetia Fair, Stolas, Visitors. Show starts at 6:30. Tickets are $13, at 24Tix.

• Hip-hop artist Hopsin brings his "Knock Madness Tour" to the Murray Theatre, 4959 S. State St., Murray. Opening act: Dizzy Wright. Show starts at 7:30. Tickets are $25, at Smith's Tix.

• Metal band Soulfly performs at The Complex, 536 W. 100 South, Salt Lake City. Show starts at 8:30. Tickets are $23, at Smith's Tix.

• St. Lucia, the performing name of electronic-pop musician Jean-Philip Grobler, performs at The Urban Lounge, 241 S. 500 East, Salt Lake City. Opening act: Sir Sly. Show starts at 8. Tickets are $12, at 24Tix.
