East Canyon State Park Winterfest • Here's your chance to try cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing and other activities. For more information, 801-829-6866 or stateparks.utah.gov/sites/stateparks.utah.gov/files/winterfest.pdf.

When: 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday

Where: East Canyon State Park, 5535 S. Highway 66, Morgan

Admission: $10 per vehicle (For half off, donate a lightly used or new childen's coat.)

Chili Open Golf Classic and 5K/1K • In the last 20 years, the Rotary Club of Sugar House has raised more than $4 million for local charities through the Chili Open. In addition to the golf classic on the snowy fields of Wheeler Farm, participants can run/walk in the 5K, or 1K for children. More information, www.chiliopen.org.

When: 10:30 a.m. Saturday 5K/1K; golf tee times vary

Where: Wheeler Farm, 6351 S. 900 East, Murray

Admission: $15-$35 for the 5K/1K; $20 for a round of golf

21st Annual Hogle Zoo World of the Wild Art Show • More than 100 pieces of wildlife art will be on display and most will be available for sale with 30 percent of all sales going to the zoo to help continue its art programs. When: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily

Where: Hogle Zoo, 2600 Sunnyside Ave.

Admission: Free with regular admission of $9.75 for adults, $7.75 for seniors (65 and older) and children age 3-12.

All Star Monster Truck Tour • Six of the biggest monster trucks in the nation will be competing. More information, www.allstarmonster.com/.

When: 7 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday

Where: Maverik Center, 3200 Decker Lake Drive, West Valley City

Admission: $12.95-$53.75

Vigor 5K/10K obstacle course run • Costumes are welcome for this race that involves climbing over walls, crawling, sledding and, of course, running. More information, www.vigorutah.com/project/vigor-winter-5k-10k-obstacle-course/.

When: 10 a.m., waves begin

Where: Wasatch Mountain State Park, 1281 Warm Springs Drive, Midway

Day-of registration: $55 for the 5K, $65 for the 10K

Fire and Ice Festival • An array of entertainment includes ice sculpting, reindeer, a fire knife Polynesian show and more. Canned goods donations will be accepted for the Food and Care Coalition. For more information, shopsatriverwoods.com/ or 801-802-8430.

When: 4-9 p.m. Saturday (fireworks at 8 p.m.)

Admission: $12 ages 13 and up
