A pedestrian trying to cross a West Valley City road was hit last week by three separate cars two of which ran over him while he was lying "helpless in the street," police say.
The man, 49, was crossing 4000 West near 4215 South about 7:30 p.m. Thursday when he was struck by a car, police Dep. Chief Mike Powell said in a statement Monday. The driver stopped to call 911 and several other passers-by tried to help the victim and block the road with their cars. But two other vehicles heading north drove around the crash scene and ran over the victim, Powell said. They left the scene.
The man suffered several broken bones and remains in recovery at a hospital, Powell said.
